This is WF Certified Teacher Sheader speaking to you today.

Readers of DL, herb eaters of the world... it has come to the ongoing attention of us fellow Wholistic Fitness Teachers that our Coach Ilg has always been a bit too giving of his time and effort with his complimentary energies of DIRECT LINES, particularly in regard to his unique knowledge and exclusive 3-Phase Approach to the SUNRIDER herbs.

As his new book sets the fitness publics spirit on fire, many people across the nation are turning their confused heads toward Coachs 3-Phase use of the SUNRIDER herbs for their nutritional balance and whole food empowerment. Since Coach won't ever "sell" the herbs many people from the Wholistic Fitness and HP Yoga international following are signing up with SR... which is great, but they are signing up under strangers and/or then asking of Coach's time (or one of us) to personally guide them with his long expertise in the herbs.

Therefore we, as his Certified Teachers, are trying to help out our humble Coach who will if left alone to his own heart - will just keep giving and giving without attachment.

We don't wish to dilute his Teachings through strangers...we wish to preserve the integrity of our Tribe and help each other...

please, when considering joining the SUNRIDER herbs
sign up (www.sunrider.com) under one of us (below) so we may guide you in the Ways of our Teacher.

ACTUAL ONLINE TRAINING DIALOGUE
subject: CARDIO Training

between Teacher Sheader and Student Toby

Dear Teacher Sheader:
When you have time, can you talk to me about max heart rate (and lactate
threshold)? My age predicted max is 220 - 41 = 179. Last summer I measured a max while MTBing of 190. Based on my average
heart rate during ~1 hour MTB races, I estimated my LT to be about 175. During the first skate race of this season I measured it at 193. During
last night's relay race I measured 196.

? Sounds about right. Max heart rate is very subjective and does not match well the athletic, especially cardio athletes. Max HR is in theory at about where zone 5 would have ya! LT is generally around zone 3-4.

Meanwhile, my friend Rob, who is in similar shape and skis at about the
same speed as me, says his max in the 170s.

So I guess I have two questions:

RE: 1. Do you think as I have gotten in better shape my max has increased or
had I just not truly hit/measured my max previously?

? Your measurement could be off though none of this matters as much as learning to listen and concern yourself with your state of fitness. There are so many variables involved from red blood cell count to V02 to... the list goes on and the intuition and poetry is lost. This is why we utilize the HR zones as they are actually much more accurate, effective, and enable anyone to gauge where they are and what they can do.
A lower HR both at rest and while working out generally means you are in better shape. For instance Repeat miles at 5:00 minute pace when early in your training might be a zone 5 effort. After a few weeks the same pace is a zone 3 perhaps. At the same time increased fitness can enable you to push yourself to higher heart rate than you might have been able to attain before, at least without a good bit of suffering. Does this make sense?

RE: 2. What does it mean to have a higher heart rate than someone else? Does
it mean that I can pump more blood faster and so should be able to more
quickly supply my muscles with oxygen. Or does it mean that my system is
less efficient and so has to work harder to supply the same amount of
oxygen as someone with a lower max?

? Generally the lower your resting heart rate the better shape one is in though only compared to themselves, not others. A better determination of cardio fitness is how fast one recovers between intervals for instance. Stay true to your practice and all these 'complexities' will fade away and a noble warrior will be left standing there instead.

Namaste,

TOTAL BODY TRANSFORMATION
Steve Ilg's Lastest Book

From The Critics
Publisher's Weekly

For those who'd like to have their own personal trainer but can't afford it, here's one in a book. Ilg, whom Ultra-Cycling Magazine dubbed the world's fittest human, has put all of his insights about "Wholistic Fitness" into what he describes as a 3-month personal program that uses nutrition, strength training, cardio, yoga and meditation to help readers get stronger, thinner and even calmer. Ilg contends that all of the different types of exercises and movements that he prescribes work together to complement each other, and anyone who has taken yoga for lower back pain can attest to the common sense in recognizing how exercise can benefit the body, the mind and the spirit. Those interested in such a total life transformation will appreciate this book as a comprehensive resource.

INPUT FROM STUDENT BRYAN HANTMAN
just back to Maryland after his 2-Day Private Intensive
with me:

"Dear Teachers,

First to Ilg: This past weekend was incredible. I bow
to the path and to all the learnings that occur
because of it. I processed a lot over the weekend,
mostly by watching you and seeing how a truly humble
warrior moves so elegantly through the world. You, my
man, are simply incredible.

Your presence: amazingly honest and sincere.

Unlike other healers, teachers, and/or coaches, you're
for real--walking the walk. I am now thoroughly
convinced: I can never truly trust another teacher who
does not run intervals, especially a monk. (I?ve got a
Hantmanism for that one.)

Second to Haku {WF Online Teacher Joseph Sheader): Any praise Coach Ilg may give me for this weekend cannot be separated from your guidance.
Without your teaching I would not be where I am today
in my practice. ?which says a lot.

To a lifetime of practice, I bow to each of your
lovely presences. I bow to the release of kundalini,
the maturation of my yoga practice, and the dancing
that inspires podium wins.

Namaste,

Teacher Kodanda -
i will pass along your well wishes to Noble Student Hantman. He is surviving well on Day Two of his Private Intensive; up early today for an hour long snowshoe mountain ascent covering 2,800 vertical feet through a foot of new and falling snow! STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS! After summiting in the wild wind and driving snow, we turn the tips of our snowshoes down and plunged with staggering delight the garly descent within 20 minutes! Then, i tested Student Hantman's triathlon training with a transition right into the gym for an Upper Body workout front loaded with Shivaya Technique then straight to my SUNRIDER PHASE I; Cleansing and Fat Loss slide presentation at the HP Yoga studio (with a great turnout!).

Right now he is in Ananda's Easy Flow Yoga Class to be taken directly into my Straight Up Zen class before he earns his sushi at Kushiyu!

LIVE from STUDENT HANTMAN during his INTENSIVE!
Today was Day One (see prior entry for his itinerary) of WF Online Student Bryan Hantmans WF Private Intensive with me here in LA. Bryan, who studies under the capable guidance of WF Online Teacher Sheader, has been with us for nearly two years. This is his first Intensive. He made the spiritual pilgrimage from Baltimore with his absolutely lovely Doreen. Bryan is being brave. He has really reached deep in order to be here. So, lets hear directly from a true and VERY noble warrior after finishing his first day with me. Ill give him only a few minutes...here he is. Ready, Set, Jao!:

*

im finally out here, and boy am i tapped in. i spent the morning chatting with coach ilg and ananda about the intensive... and while coach wrote up a plan for the weekend i headed over to the hp studio for a slow flow class with teacher q.

if you havent been to the studio, youre missing something... something big.. something incredible. the care of teacher qs class was nothing like ive experienced in another studio -- and the same goes for coach ilgs class.

a bit later, after a Dharma talk with coach and ananda, we headed over to the studio again for coachs prop class. and let me tell you, my legs have never quivered so!

this is so friggin beautiful! my heart is set on tomorrows snowshoe run.

Wanna Get High? Go Bike, Run

Outdoor athletes may soon think twice about disparaging pot smokers -- they could be chasing the same high.

Well, that's not exactly true. But prolonged exercise such as cycling or running might trigger the body to release cannabinoids, creating a natural high, according to a recent university study. Cannabinoids, which exist in low levels in human bodies all the time, are in the same general family as THC or TetraHydroCannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana.

last night, after teaching three HP Yoga classes, i felt a twinge in my
right shoulder. if you want to ruin a good personal yoga Practice?
start teaching.
this morning, upon awakening, the pain was still red hot.
a blockage of life force (pran) trying to nest itself in my
right anterior deltoid so as to seep into the acromioclavicular joint
and start an entropic cascade of serial distortion throughout my body.

i would have not of that.

i knew i had cut through this blockage of energy (coming from me trying to do too much with my Big City life. all pain is self created and...shoulder pain is all about just that; carrying too much weight on our shoulders).

that is the go(o)d thing about a lifelong dedication to yoga and WF...the phrase, "Physician heal thyself," takes on real trust. so i did my neti and applied some special pranayama (yogic breathing) techniques and began spraying an intensely heating internal breath into my shoulder...i could read the blockage like a picture book. after ten minutes, the energetic dam broke. i immediately launched into forty minutes of asana, opening my shoulders, chest, and thoracic cage.

i sit here typing this to you with no pain.

aches and pains and mental afflictions

into them
transforming them
into the sacredness of your life.

Dear Coach Ilg,

This winter for the first time in my life I have had ongoing cracked skin
on my finger tips. Little dry spots that split open and bleed on the
corners of my fingers where the nail meets the skin. They are very painful
for such small areas.

About three weeks ago, I started using Sunrider skin care products (i.e.,
Beauty Pearls from your Phase III Sunrider program). Since then my cracked
skin has disappeared completely. Certainly the 2 to 3 quarts of filtered
water/FD, Calli tea and Ilg Supreme help, but I have been consuming those
since prior to the start of winter. It wasn't until I started taking the
Beauty Pearls that they cleared up completely.

Bizarro....
This is amazing test of coordination that should take no more than 10 seconds...

This is one of the strangest things. Read below & follow the instructions. Make sure to watch your foot when you do this experiment...

Left brain, Right brain

While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot
off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.

Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the
air with your right hand.

Your foot will change direction and there's nothing
you can do about it.

FROM OUR ADVENTURE SUNDAY:

Dear Coach Ilg,
Approximately 24 hours ago, my heart was racing up to 180 beats per minute, I was concentrating on breathing and putting one foot in front of the other trying to balance myself between pushing myself to the edge and not pushing myself too hard, and trying to be aware of the gorgeous day that was all around me in the Santa Monica Mountains. Thanks to everyone who waited at the top of the peak and who waited at the bottom of the descent. All your encouragement felt wonderful! :)
My legs want to run again.
My arms want to find the muscles it couldn't find or locate in the prop class yesterday. (Really now, where were they?!)
My lungs want to truly breathe again - with air like that.
I was so exhausted. I did not go to Zen class. (My apologies.) While dinner was cooking, I closed my eyes in the room next to the kitchen. I was aware of the voices of family members. I was aware of my 4 year old asking me a question. I had no dreams. I had no thoughts. I was deep and still inside.
Later, I had a great night sleep.

Intellectual Property Right Question on WF/Steve Ilg Expertise

Dear Coach Ilg,
You and Teacher Sheader and Student-Turned Teacher Chris Roche have
been such an unbelievable inspiration on so many levels for the past 3
years, that I must begin this note with a word of MANY THANKS for all
of you. Not to put you on pedastals - as mentioned recently on DL -
but to recognize and be incredibly Grateful that you mere mortals have
had the Strength, Endurance, Intelligence, Guts...and All of That...to
do the work that it takes to create the clear path that it takes to do
your Divine work -- and it is Divine. Thank you.

You've recently received email from one of my private training clients,
John Singleton. John and I began our "mind/body" approach to his
training by reading Millman, going to yoga, etc., etc. And thus begins
my (our) story.

As Coach Sheader always writes in my programs, 'You're WF Journey began
a long time ago....' . I believe that to be true -- and the planets
aligned to start turning me formally towards WF during Spinning
certification in 1995 when we were instructed to read Millman's "The
Way of the Peaceful Warrior." Some after that I was lucky enough to
land in Chris' spinning class, recognizing a very special quality to
his teaching. Once Chris began as a formal student of WF, he
introduced us to WF, DL, to yoga, SR, and so much more. So after years
of careful 'observation, ' here I sit having made the shift from
'expert' physiologist to (most) humble student. (Coach Sheader the
'most' is only since these 8 sets of pull ups... :-) thanks.)

OK - Here come the points of this note:

1) It concerned me that when you read John's notes you might think that
I was stealing your materials. I shudder at the thoughts of it. Up
to this point, my client John and I have followed your work somewhat
together. I've bought him TWA and HP yoga for birthday gifts and even
gone as far as assigning him HP yoga videos and attendance in Chris'
yoga classes (one of which is taught at his workplace). Chris sent us
both to DL, and you've reinforced that practice as I'm on your SR
downline email list...thank Goodness. {On a side note; I've given
several of my clients the HP yoga video for b-days -- only John has
actually made good use of this beautiful opportunity.}

2) NOW - as I've embraced my humble student-ness, I'm really glad I
never tried to teach your stuff...cause I don't really Know it yet.
HOWEVER, as I experience the sheer brilliance of your intuitive
approach to Strength Training and the like, I'm finding it hard not to
share it. In fact, I have shared Envelope Technique...I just had too!
Would it be alright with you that I continue to share WF techniques as
I learn them? If you would prefer that I not do this, I will honor
your request.

Many Many Many Thanks,
Student Cooper
Carmel, IN

Student Wendy -

My techniques, principles, and unique blending of Eastern and Western
fitness and spiritual methodologies flow through me.

But are not from me.

I do not attempt to chase down everyone who may be stealing
my stuff.

My stuff is not mine,
It is yours to share with others
And for you to do your best to help others
Enjoy a Higher and More Whole personal fitness.

All I ask is that you give credit where credit is due
This preserves integrity of all the lineages of Teachers
And your karma as well.

That is allenjoy the Sharing of the WF and HP dharma!

HOW DO I KEEP MY MEMBERSHIP?

To keep your account active, just place an order for at least 50 SV (sales volume) points during a one month period, every 6 months (no SV points on taxes, business aids or shipping). This will assure that you retain your cumulative SV points to qualify for personal rebates, bonuses and rank changes. If your membership does expire, you will lose your cumulative SV points and any downline you have sponsored.

HOW DO I GET REBATES?

Thats easy, all Preferred Customers & Distributors with a personal monthly sales volume of 500 SV, will receive a rebate, which averages around $125. Plus, you have the ability to retail the products at a 40% mark-up, and thats just the beginning. However, only Distributors will participate in all the Bonus Programs, which total 58.5% of the total Company SV each month!

CAN A CUSTOMER UPGRADE TO DISTRIBUTOR?

OF course! At any time, you can apply all your cumulative SV points to your Distributorship by purchasing a Business Training Pack for $250.00 from SR. Upgrading to Distributor entitles you to participate in all SR bonuses, including commissions on personally sponsored people.

HOW DO I HELP SOMEONE ELSE BUY DIRECTLY FROM SR?

Just help them decide how they want to participate: Preferred Customer or Distributor, with you as sponsor. Preferred Customers & Distributors can join from the SR web site, or mail the Preferred Customer or Distributor application forms to SR, with their first order.

IS IT BEST TO BUY DIRECTLY FROM SR, OR FROM MY SPONSOR?

To be sure that all your purchases accumulate in your account, it is best and easiest to order directly from SR. Your sponsor is still there to assist you and answer questions.

Why doing yoga and being kind are important:

Man at birth is supple and tender, but in death he is rigid and hard.

Plants when young are sinuous and moist, but when old are brittle and dry.

Thus suppleness and tenderness are signs of life,

While rigidity and hardness are signs of death.

Namaste Noble Warriors!

The fate of the soul is determined in accordance with its parabdha-karma. What is not meant to happen will not happen, however much you wish it. What is meant to happen will happen no matter what you do to prevent it. This is certain. Therefore, the best path is to remain silent.

Dear WF Teacher Sheader,
Today I accomplished BOTH tapayasa's without any mental chatter about
them. No coffee, got to yoga on time, and then even got back home on
time after errands...wow! I don't think any of this has ever happened
all in one day before :-), and certainly not without a battle.

You and WF are awfully powerful forces in my corner. thanks!

Love and Blessings to you,

HP Yoga is earning quite a following across the nation. Why? Due to my unique blending western sport physiology principles with my knowledge of yogic subtle anatomy, asana, and pranayama the overall Total Body Transformation, is quick and endlessly rewarding.

What happens when people dont practice intelligent body/mind practices under a seasoned Teacher? Well, injury is one likelihood and is typified in this classic but unfortunate quote from DL reader, Eric, in New York City: I have had leg twitches (fasciculation's) for almost a year now. They began 5 weeks after I sprained my knee at Bikram Yoga.

The VERY FIRST principle in Yoga is Ahimsa or do no harm. In this era of Hot Yoga and Power Yoga the Practitioner must be VERY mature in not amplifying aggressive tendencies during asana or pranayama. Externally heated yoga rooms are, in my professional and personal experience, very dangerous over the long term. Why? The artificially heated air blurs natural kinesthesia making it easy to over stretch and inflict micro tears of the connective tissue and cellular ground substance. I, myself, completely strained my paraspinals during a Bikram class because of the external heat and the go, go, go mentality of the teacher.

Yogi; Be aware. Please enjoy a more intelligent and world-class approach to a yoga Practice at HP Yoga. Well take quality care of your Wholistic Fitness.

Hi Steve
I came across your book (Total Body Transformation)at a book fair in my city (I am from India)just a few days back and Ibelieve it was my destiny to find your book.Maybe it was not destiny whatever it might be I have been looking for a book like this.I have gone to gyms before but have hardly stuck around for maximum a week.I found it too boring to go to gym.I love playing squash and I considered it enough fitness to just play that sport. Then many of my friends urged me to do yoga and I was confused like hell on what to do coz of course I wanted to have a good body at the same time I know how yoga can really help improve concentration etc.I always considered yoga and gym as two seperate displines but when I read your views saying that both are interconnected and even gym helps yoga I was amazed. To have the best of both worlds is such an amazing thought and that I need to gym to have enough strength for correctyoga postures was something I never thought off.I never thought of an Indian yogi going to gym! but now I see the complete connection.
Thanks a lot for writing such a book I have already benefitted from the book spiritually without even actually going through the Green Tara program.I am excited to join a gym again now with the right attitude and complete the Green Tara program first successfully.I have so much more to say which I cannot describe in words and through email but for now will get back to you after completeing the programs.

Regards
Abhinav.
(I am 21 years old and just completed my undergrad)

Dear Coach!

I finally got your book and have started down the Green Tara path
again. Feels good to be back in basement with the iron!

A hearty congratulations on this spectacular scribe. It is featured
on front book carousels and at least one window in the Barnes and Noble stores
in NYC. Your publisher is doing it right.
- Eric

Steve,
Beautiful DL today. Could not have said it any better.

Though the practice of Yoga, or running, or... is for me and many others a practice that resonates with and is inherent in their spirituality that to practice yoga does not make them Hindu's any more than running makes them practitioners of a Native American religion.

Namaste Noble Warriors!

A woman came into my studio the other day. Her doctor told her to start doing yoga to help her out of shape body which had collected a host of aches, pains, and now dis-ease. Less concerned about her body and more about religious issues, she asked me about the all the worshiping that yoga people do. First, I took a breath. It amazes me the fears people are brainwashed into by organized religions. I told her there are two main motives for doing yoga, and yes, a more intimate hooking up with Divine Energy is one. Yet, I told her, yoga is non-denominational. First comes sweat, then matters of the spirit. I told her that there are both dualistic and non-dualistic world views of Vedantic and classical Yoga. I told her that a yogi might say that he or she serves Brahman while using yogic techniques, postures, and principles to cultivate Atman which is another way of saying that we do yoga to serve what Force it is that we consider God and then sharpen our bodies and minds through the Practice in order to make ourselves a more fit and appropriate instrument for His beautiful Work. She left smiling. But did not buy any classes.

On some level we must take action in order to move into a more joy-filled and healthy and balanced life. This is the second main motive for doing yoga; to return to our natural space of joy. Ive designed HP Yoga to deepen my students intention and willpower toward such Higher movement during their life. I use private and online training to nourish the deep inner force of what I call Noble Warriorism, the balance between self effort and the wisdom of surrender, insecurity, and acceptance.

Adaptation was the hallmark of my world-class athletic career. I delighted in dancing among the elite extreme and outdoor sports as no one else could. I applied my sense of the Divine into my training and devoted my performances to Brahman. I attempt to bring this same philosophy of Divine motivation into my teaching.

Dear Steve,
Wholistic fitness is the way forward..... Just want to tell you a little story. I am recovering from major operation to correct a chest deformity I had from birth which gave me very bad posture, chronic pain, mental unhealth and breathing problems. Was in spite of this very active person, into mountaineering etc. After the operation I set myself a plan over several years to achieve not just fitness but happiness. It involved taoist meditation, pilates, cardio and strength training along with proper nutrition....! sound familiar? When I read your '3 month book' I was very pleased but not that suprised to see your essentially similar philosophy( substitute buddhism/Zen for the taoist stuff and yoga for the pilates...). I am improving steadily but have a very long path to tread( don't we all). Very Happy that you are introducing many people to the reality of what it means to be a fully functioning human! Namaste

Dear Steve -

Marsha and I just got our Sunrider shipment and she loves Evergreen but isn't sure how often to actually take it. At $2.50 a pop is it worth using 1/2 a bottle instead of a full one?

What are it's full benefits?

- WW

Dear WW -
Evergreen is all about Chlorophyll. And Chlorophyll (CHO) is all about eating Light or as yogis would say, absorbing the Pran or Life Force. Marsha loves the feel of Evergreen entering her body because she is really feeling more Life Force entering her cells. Taking Evergreen is sort of like doing a half-hour of devoted Yoga Breathing (Pranayama). It develops and amplifies the Pran within the body.

Evergreen also has licorice root in its profile which is superb for digestive integrity.

Dr. Chen says about Evergreen, The highly concentrated chlorophyll in Evergreen addresses the body's circulatory and digestive systems. Essentially, (and from a yogic perspective) he is saying that Evergreen nourishes both the centripetal (inward/afferent) and the centrifugal (outward/efferent) movement of energy within the body. In the Western scheme of things, Evergreen balances the neural tides of the body. CHO has a tremendous capacity to restore life where life was damaged, as in the regeneration of a leaf after being burned. In our bodies, CHO regenerates our damaged cells (aging, degenerative food choices, toxicity, free radical damage, etc) in similar ways.

I trust Dr. Chen to put in just the right amount of herbs in just the right profile to optimize cell regeneration. In other words, i would not suggest taking half a bottle. Take the full dosage and regenerate from within, baby!

Personally, I used Evergreen when i lived in Colorado and New Mexico and was training hard. I felt sincerely nourished by Evergreens capacity to help my body regenerate from the toxic load of hard, high altitude workouts everyday in oxygen-deprived (and fresh fruit deprived) environments. The older we get, the more important CHO becomes. We need to absorb more Light Energy as our cells shift toward a catabolic (cell dwindling) state. Now living in LA, Evergreen is huge for helping combat the poor air quality and spurring cell regeneration in a highly stressful and positive ionic environment.

If you havent had enough (i can talk herbs all day, baby!), ive enclosed some other tidbits relative to Evergreens primary focus; CHO. But, i want to go snowshoeing so im going to leave you with these excerpts from my database on Evergreen/CHO.

i bow to your good question,

namaste,

It was German surgeon, Julius Robert Mayer who recognized that plants convert solar energy into chemical energy. He was addressing the properties of CHO when he said:

"Nature has put itself the problem of how to catch in flight light streaming to the Earth and to store the most elusive of all powers in rigid form. The plants take in one form of power, light; and produce another power, chemical difference."

The actual chemical equation which takes place is the reaction between carbon dioxide and water, catalyzed by sunlight, to produce glucose and a waste product, oxygen. The glucose sugar is either directly used as an energy source by the plant for metabolism or growth, or is polymerized to form starch, so it can be stored until needed. The waste oxygen is excreted into the atmosphere, where it is made use of by plants and animals for respiration.

Chlorophyll is the molecule that traps this 'most elusive of all powers' - and is called a photoreceptor. It is found in the chloroplasts of green plants, and is what makes green plants, green.

Chlorophyll can also be damaged when vegetation is cooked, since the central Mg atom is replaced by hydrogen ions. This affects the energy levels within the molecule, causing its absorbency spectrum to alter. Thus cooked leaves change color - often becoming a paler, insipid yellowy green.

Just as the in leaves decays in the autumn, our skin and regenerative organs fade when CHO is not being absorbed in adequate amounts.

Dear El Coache,

Great DL Strength Training story. You must be sending some ST Chi in my
direction ... On Saturday evening, I decided to prime the new Cycle with a
full body ST session. Something was VERY different about this session. Mula
Bandha was solidly engaged most of the time and the Chi was just pumping up my
spine during each of the exercises. I now know why you call Squats the King of
ST. They train the 'drumhead' {the engagement of Mula Bandha) like no other!

More as I merge into Jiva Khyati II ...

Dearest Coaches Ilg and Sheader -

I saw this poem and thought of you:

"Some People" - author unknown

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their
wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and
we are never, ever the same.

Thank you for being "some people". Student C

Do your best to shift samsara everyday. As soon as you make effort in the face of difficulty you entice negativity out of yourself. Bravery and devotion will be required to purify the negativity you are drawing out of your lower self. Its like Phase I of SUNRIDER herbs or your first few yoga classes. You will reach a crossroads, a choice...do you want to push through the Shift to enter new and unknown Higher Terrain? Or are you doing to default to the comfort of what you already know? This is not a question of right or wrong. Its a question of purifying yourself in this lifetime. The best spiritual athletes are known to run TOWARD their problems and challenges for the sake of purifying their karma. What are you going to choose? You are the creator of your own UniVerse (One Poem).

Namaste Noble Warriors!

a note waiting for me at the HP Yoga Studio:

Teacher -
Mrs. (name withheld) just bought a 5-Block on Tuesday. After class she was way too sore. Doesnt want to take classes anymore. Please call.

How classic is THAT?

She was not just too sore to continue classes, she was WAY too sore! I guess Ill have to refund her and tell her to enjoy going somewhere else where what? Where she can get less for her money, eh? Ive told you from the start, twenty years ago, WF and HP Yoga and SUNRIDER herbs are for Finders, not Seekers. Show most people success and they run straight away from it (and even have the audacity to ask for their money back!). The true Way is steep and narrow and difficult.

Alert DL reader Janis called me on my promise to share with you my training totals from 2003. So, for those of you keeping track at home, here you go! Better luck this year! Oh, I aint gonna tell you my Lifetime Totals...dont want to totally depress you. Competitive athletes: I dont care what your age is, I dare you...match my last year statistics and see how fit you become:

Coach Ilgs Personal Wholistic Fitness Training Totals: 2003

hours spent in asana (doing yoga poses): 568.50 (lifetime high)

hours spent strength training: 50.75 (lifetime low)

hours spent in cardio: 405.50

hours spent in meditation: 217

(hours spent watching TV: not a helluva lot)

few actually walk it.

Dear Coach -
Is watching the Super Bowl okay as WF student?
- Tom

Noble Warrior Tom -
yes, but never forget: the most
important bowl game is the
game of opening
your pelvic bowl.

lets compare the two and see which one YOU feel is
most appropriate to watch:

Award If You Win:
Super Bowl: The Vince Lombardi Trophy
Pelvic Bowl: Enlightenment/Self Realization in this lifetime.

Arena:
Super Bowl: Reliant Stadium
Pelvic Bowl: Muladhara Chakra

Teams:
Super Bowl: New England vs. uh...Carolina?
Pelvic Bowl: Kundalini vs. ego

Player Salary:
Super Bowl: . NFL Players Association documents examined by USA TODAY showed an average salary of just more than $1.1 million, down about $15,000 from the 2000 average.
Pelvic Bowl: $ 0.00

Sponsor Fees:
Super Bowl: $2.25 million for a 30-second commercial.
Pelvic Bowl: God charges nothing for those who wish to Awaken.

What You Support By Watching:
Super Bowl: Animal cruelty, global destruction, male penile erectile (not even a word) dysfunction consciousness.
Pelvic Bowl: Personal growth, compassion, value of mental concentration, spiritual consciousness.

Who Wins In The Long Run:
Super Bowl: Not you.
Pelvic Bowl: You.

So today I make one of my occasional appearances at the gym. Most of you know that, by seeing my statistics above, i no longer spend a whole lot of time in the gym. i did all that in my younger years. now i rely upon my unique HP Yoga style to refine the musculature built from the gym.

Im doing a triset between Seated DB Shoulder Presses (Shivaya Technique) into Lateral DB Raises (12) into Front Lateral Raises (Swan Medicine Technique).

Im totally merging into Mula Bandha and feeling the chi and getting pumped when this babe comes up to me:
Excuse me, but i just have to tell you...you have a gorgeous body.
Why, uh, thank you, thats (huff huff, puff puff) very kind of you to say!
The guy up there at the front desk offered to pay me a dollar if i actually told you that.
Uh, thats nice. Im sorry, but I cant interrupt my set here to talk.
Oh, Im sorry...anyway...I think your body is amazing.
You better tell him to give you two bucks.
Really? Why?
Im forty one and am an endurance athlete, not a bodybuilder.
Holy SHIT! YOU are 41 years old!?! Holy SHIT! I thought you were like twenty five!
You sweet thing, after i finish this (huff huff, puff puff) set, i am going to give YOU two dollars!

Later, i heard that the bet behind the bet was among the Staff Personal Trainers. They had dared the babe to speak her thoughts directly to me. Then they bet that i would stop my set if she said that to me while I was in the middle of my set.

Guess again, little Staff Personal Trainer Boyz That Make Fun Of My Focus In The Gym. Nothing disturbs a Master WF Student during a set. Not even an earthquake baby, let alone a babe! We Master Students of WF got our priorities set;
Excellence In Every Set Performed!

As my friend and spiritual teacher Ananda says,
It must come from a balanced place.

That is all.

Namaste,
Coach Ilg
