A COACH ILG APPROVED AND ENDORSED PRODUCT:
YOGA TOES
"Dear Stephan,
I AM wearing my YogaToes right now after a 57.5 mile, 7,000' bicycle training ride up in the Santa Monica mountains. In fact, slipping into my YogaToes is now a ritual and comes right after my post-workout shower!
Having used your fine product now for over a year, it would be hard to calculate their positive impact upon my subtle and physical anatomy. It is yogic truth that 'brittle feet equals unhealthy organs,' and even I began to doubt my capacity to ever attain the highly sought after "yogic toe spread" after so many decades of cramming my feet into rock climbing shoes, ski boots, running shoes, etc. Yet, due to the ergonomic affect of your amazing product, my entire stance and walking and running gait has been sublimely affected...not to mention a deepening fitness of my energy lines.
I find Yoga Toes to be absolutely essential for ALL endurance athletes, of vital importance to any fitness warrior,
a secret weapon for skill athletes like sport climbers, golfers, and ball players, and for yogis, well, yogis should LIVE in them!"

Our goodbye salutation to...
the Windy City...
We will miss our faithful Chicago Warriors like Online Student Jim Johnston
who cardio commuted to my Master Class at the Women's Athletic Club and gave me
his "A-game." To the warrior ladies at WAC during our luncheon DharmaTalk...your
attention and laughs are etched into my smiling heart.
To Danielle DeVaux at the stunningly posh and standard raising
Peninsula Club where HP Yoga still graces their Class Schedule
and where, in-house computer doctors (see below)
await any cyber emergency to help
people like me bring the ever faithful Dharma of DL to people like
you.
To my faithful assistant Ananda,
who steadily increases her own Practice of

To all of you, who like myself, are determined to find more Truth
as we glide along the shores of our comfort zones and repeatedly dance
in sweat and spirit...
to Chicago, Anne, Robyn, Claudia, and all of our Midwest WF Warriors...
May your Practices be ever strong and...
May Your Workout Be Everwhere...

Steve Ilg, "The World's Fittest Human"
Steve Ilg is an elite athlete who has competed in several different sports, including extreme skiing, road cycling, orienteering and various forms of multi-sport competitions. In 1983, while mountain climbing, he fell 50 feet and broke his back. Instead of ending his athletic career, it only temporarily slowed him down. After healing himself through unconventional means including yoga and Eastern philosophy, he went on to some of his greatest achievements by winning five national and international championships in four different sports. Ilg now runs a Yoga studio in California, where he teaches "Wholistic Fitness".
His new book "Total Body Transformation: A 3-Month Personal Fitness Prescription for a Strong, Lean Body and a Calmer Mind" will be available. He is the author of several books, including The Outdoor Athlete, and Be-Good-To-Your-Body Therapy, and is published in 13 languages.

A cluster of red boulders in an arroyo near Hidden Pinyon Trail

lifetime spiritual Practice...
my HP Yoga Classes, Teacher Trainings, and Lectures are nearly over...each
have been met with teary eyed fans, tired armed warriors, autograph seekers,
and the smiling eyes
of the newly converted who have been touched by the unmistakable and
utterly unique chi of HP Yoga...in between classes and lectures, i retreat into
the red desert on foot or on bike to slip again and again into my soul,
whencecometh the Power, the Higher Source of the sacred Teachings and
Energies that come through my feeble abilities...i know this much,
to touch others, to inspire others to sweat and be still everyday...
i must
sweat and pour myself into my solo silences and Practices
as authenticately as ever...
even moreso...
otherwise,
i am not a genuine Protector of the Dharma
i am not a Teacher of Yoga...of union of ALL the DANCES available
to the human experience...
testing my meditation skills 30' up a route called, "Bat's Meow" rated 5.7+
when the climbing rope falls between your legs, you are so alive, so sincere,
so fully focused...so human!
Ananda, my everfaithful Assistant and partner, has seen once again a Shift in her
body and her mind during this Retreat. Here she is bouldering on The Breakfast Nook,
Snow Canyon.
Red sand, nearly as fine as dust
lava rock, black as pitch, indelible residue from a volcanic era
and
red rock cliffs, giant monoliths which soar into cobalt skies
urging me to climb them, meditate with their sun baked silences...
it is all i can do but thank God for Wholistic Fitness so i
can Dance my Breath among such extreme miracles of
Mother Earth and Father Sky...
may your Practice be strong and sincere today
we wish you were here with us...
love endlessly,

Tuesday was Coachs HPY Strong Flow class where
both new newcomers and seasoned practitioners sweated to
the internal heat purifying their body in Steves fun, inspiring,
challenging yoga class. Ribbons where given out to Charles from
PA for Best Effort. Max received the Great Attitude ribbon and
Betty from NY was gifted a HPY water bottle and Prayer Flag for
consistency. She was here last year to participate in Steves classes.
Keeping the WF tradition, the afternoon brought a bike ride up Snow Canyon
(a stunning, white colored mountain squeezed between red cliffs).
Breath taking. oh, im not referring to the view, though it was, im
referring to the breath it took to get my bike up those hills!!!
A warm-up for what was to come this morning.
As i took my cardio childs pose resting during a water break,
next thing i knew, Coach had me babysitting his cross-bike, Nalanda,
while he took off with my mountain bike and was soon calling my name,
waving his hands from the summit of a near vertical, red petrified sand dune.
How he loves to play.

3 QUICK QUESTIONS TO COACH
3 QUICK ANSWERS
Q) Dear Coach, i never see you eat. do you really just live on those herbs and still do all that stuff you do?
A) No, the rumor that i live entirely on herbs is unfounded. i also eat New Mexico Green Chile.
i eat the herbs, from SUNRIDER, as 'jet fuel' for my body.
i eat the green chili, specially ordered from Albuquerque, is 'jet fuel' for my soul.
{ to blast off on the same "jet fuel" as Coach does just look left margin and sign up for a SUNRIDER membership under a WF Teacher of your choice. For the chili, go to;

Q) Where is the best place to integrate Zazen Practice in daily life?
A) On a Kawasaki z1000 in between the thousands of cars on the 405 in LA, during rush hour(s). that is, truly, engaged zen. if you doubt me, c'mon out and we'll ride together...you will see.

Q) Dear Coach, i want a tan like yours.
A) Then be prepared to accept Skin Cancer as just a valid Way to exit the Stage than any other.

FOR OUR LA NOBLE FITNESS WARRIORS
Noble Student Steve Mackel, endurance athlete extraordinaire with Coach at a local booksigning for TOTAL BODY TRANSFORMATION
Coach,
This weekend (Monday) is Run 2 the Top of Mt. Baldy. This race is Approximately 8 mile run with a 4000 foot elevation gain. Beginning at 6,000 ft. elevation. The first mile is paved roadway followed by 5 miles of steep narrow dirt roadway. The next mile, a narrow "catwalk" trail that hugs the mountain side: the final mile, the steepest, is above the timber line. The finish line is atop beautiful Mt. San Antonio (Mt Baldy) at 10,064 feet. Go to:
http://www.lawquip.com/sc/run2top.html
It could remind you of the mountains you come from, just not as high but overlooking our wonderful zooapolis, LA. I got to say it is beautiful up there early in the morning. Anytime under 1:35 is moving. You get stuck behind people and can't pass because it is to narrow with steep drops. HPer's, Yogi B, Laura, Larry and others will be, hopefully, eating my WF dust. It is a time to breathe and feel the earth under us as well as the sky above us. And all this is after a high intensity triathlon workout on Sat. Gotta love it! Love to Sweat, Sweat to Love.
Have a great retreat :)
Namaste,

ACTUAL CYCLE SUMMATION INSIGHTS FROM ONLINE STUDENT D:
Section C. Yoga
8) Any standout reactions in this discipline of HP Yoga Practice?
Yes, a small amount. Baby steps, baby increases. As you know, the hips are oh-so-tight I dont know when it happened that I could not sit cross legged. Im not even close to getting knees on the floor. As a teenager, I used to lie on my back on my bed and hook my leg over my head and under the bottom edge of the headboard. A full split. But I digress.
One major frustration: since I am still far from being able to get my leg through from downward dog to lunge position, it makes me crazy as I am always behind a beat or two from everyone else, and it breaks my rhythm, my flow, my breathing.
9) What has been a transpersonal effect from the Practice?
Of all the {WF} disciplines, I like the yoga the best, as I find it the most kind and forgiving, while still challenging me to my edge. Lots of edges. It also reminds me of ballet, as the quiet but intense focus is like doing a good barre and focusing on the perfect leg or foot movement or position, pushing to do a higher extension or faster bourree, but while holding an elegant posture. It feels familiar. And I like the stillness and meditative elements. When Im not thinking of things I shouldnt be (actors, underwear, etc!), I hear things I might otherwise miss. Like one night when Steve said during savasana if you had nowhere to go, who would you be - yikes!

STUDENT QUESTION TO TEACHER ANANDA:
"Dear Teacher,
Why do we consider FAILURE so GOOD in WF?"
Teacher Ananda:
" Im not sure I have the right answer, but on page 66 of TBT Steve quotes Melville:He who has never failed somewhere, that (wo)man cannot be great. For some thing to be right would indicate some thing
could be wrong. In WF we TAF (think and feel), therefore, there is no need for right or wrong answers. i invite you to start using the phrase taf in your correspondences regarding our WF work together. Perhaps it might even find its way into your daily Practice.
