Coach Announces His Plans To Defend Team Title at October's 2005 Furnace Creek 508!

This was likely what DL Reader Bob saw in the Mojave last year; Coach Ilg testing his HP Yoga
Practice at 29 mph upon a Trek Alu-carbon fiber two wheeled 'yoga mat.'

Last year (2004) my good friend and one of my crew members told me as we
were heading back from my DNF that I should read your books. After
returning home I noticed that you were in fact in the race and most
likely were the blur going past me in the Mojave desert. We spent most
of the ride back to LA discussing what he could remember of your books.
I was wondering if you are going to be in the race this year, or if you
will be around LA then. We are again venturing from northern Canada for
the race and both Brian and myself would be honored to have the chance
to meet you. We are arriving in LA 4 or 5 days before the race.

yet i suppose i have already forgotten the Pain and Torture of racing through the Mohave...
so, yes,
i am leading a new Team to defend the Men's Open 4x4 title i helped set last year at Chris Kostman's
most amazing adventure and test of the
Body,
Mind,
and Soul;
the Furnace Creek 508.

(funny, no other Yoga Teachers seem to compete in this event? too stuck on the mat? hmmmm?)
These are mysterious sports, the ultra events.
They pull us back for it seems the moments we spend competing in them settle upon our Soul
and continue to itch at our Warrior hide, until we say to ourselves, "YES! One More Time! I CAN do it!"
This what i love most about the Human Spirit; the urge to merge into Endeavor and Risk. i care little
for those who pretend to challenge in the form of lawsuits, gambling money, or intellectual gymnastics.
What i DO love about the Human Spirit; integrity shown through Solo Practice, direct experience, and
unadulterated sweat.
So yes, Warrior Bob, you will see me there in the Mohave next year with a new team.
Will i be in LA around October?
No.
